WORKS, a website dedicated to counseling students at every level of education, is a service of the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC). It is the goal of NBCC to create a center for future counselors wishing to obtain the most up-to-date information about the field of counseling and the process of credentialing. Updated regularly, these pages will contain resources to assist students:

• Prepare for a career in counseling


• Learn about professional opportunities such as national certification, state licensure, regional and national conferences

California Licensure Bill Update
NBCC is working closely with the California Coalition for Counselor Licensure (CCCL) to pass legislation granting licensure for professional counselors (LPCs). The California Senate Appropriations Committee is expected to hear the counselor licensure bill (AB 1486) soon. If it passes, then it will likely move quickly to the Senate floor.

Latin American Counseling Day 2008
In recognition of the strong ties between the United States with its Latin American neighbors, the National Board for Certified Counselors and Affiliates (NBCC) will recognize Latin American Counseling Day on April 27.
